Unity’s AI tools are available in open beta for Unity 6 developers, including an in-Editor Assistant, MCP Server, AI Gateway and Generators.
Unity describes the beta as a project-aware AI workflow rather than a generic chatbot. The Assistant can work with scene and project context, while MCP connects compatible external AI tools to the Unity project. Generators can create placeholder sprites, textures, layouts, animations and audio for prototyping.
The interesting shift is context. Instead of copying code into a separate chatbot, developers can expose project state and Editor actions to AI tooling. That makes AI more useful for repetitive project work, debugging and prototyping, while also making verification and source control more important.
